5 Killer Vacay Workouts

The best part of any vacation? Making time for yourself! Any one of these workouts are a great way to get in some “you” time and enjoy your surroundings. Vacations are a time to relax and get away from the hectic day-to-day. And while you should embrace some serious R&R, you’ll return to work more relaxed and enjoy that late-afternoon beachfront cocktail that much more if you know you did your body some good too. So don’t let your vacation derail you from your fitness journey. Give these four workouts a try. 1.Run It doesn’t get much simpler than this, but running on vacation can be a fantastic way to explore your new surroundings while getting your heart pumping. And if you’re traveling with someone, ask them to come along. You can explore together while enjoying the benefits of a heart-pounding workout, all while catching up with a loved one.
  1. Tabata
Tabata workouts have gained some serious attention over the last few years and for good reason -- heart thumping, equipment free, and customizable is where it’s at, especially when on vacation! The format stays the same but the moves can always change. The structure: 20 seconds of work, 10 seconds of rest. The time for each interval can vary (sometimes 30 seconds of work, 15 seconds rest, etc.) but the general structure remains the same. Work hard, rest, repeat. Check out this 30-Minute Body Weight Tabata Workout.
  1. The Hotel Room Workout
Maybe your hotel doesn’t have a fitness center or you just want to squeeze in a quick workout in the comfort of your own room. Whatever the reason, your hotel room is a perfect space to burn some calories, no equipment necessary! With The Ultimate Hotel Room Workout, there is no excuse to let your fitness slide.
  1. HIIT
HIIT, or high intensity interval training, is another workout that has gained recognition over the last couple of years. It’s a workout that pushes you to your limit for a short amount of time. You’ll boost your metabolism and be burning calories for hours after your workout. Can’t complain about that! Check out this HIIT Cardio workout.
  1. Yoga
Whether you’re signing up for a Paddleboard Yoga class (try it!) or just doing your own sunrise salutations, keeping that inner glow is key to vacation success. Not only is yoga a great way to keep your bod in tune, but the right poses can also stimulate healthy digestion, and all-in-all you’ll walk away ready to enjoy the day. And isn’t that what a good vacation is all about? Happy Vacationing!
