My Move to Orgain Organic Nutrition: Peter Ripmaster

My Move to Orgain Organic Nutrition By Ultra Runner Peter Ripmaster This past February, my plan was to travel 1,000 miles on foot from Knik Lake, Alaska to Nome, Alaska during The Iditarod Trail Invitational. This is the world’s longest, human powered, winter ultra-marathon and it takes place every year, one week before The Iditarod Sled Dog Race. I knew, very well, I had my work cut out for me after finishing the 350 mile “short” version of the same foot race in 2014 and 2015. I thought I was prepared and I thought I had my race nutrition dialed in. I was wrong. It wasn’t long before I realized I had way too much sugar in my diet and far too many empty calories to be of any lasting value. Each day, the plan was to hike roughly 40 miles and to keep myself fueled by staying hydrated and nourished. After falling through a fast moving river at mile 200 and feeling progressively more and more lethargic throughout my trip, I quit in Ruby, AK which was 500 miles into the race. I got home to North Carolina in March and promised myself I would find a much better source of long lasting, useful nutrition. Although friends used Ensure’s and other products like it while on the trail, I found those products to have far too much sugar, which was a big problem for me. After spending countless days studying nutritional values of high caloric / low volume nutritional options, I was ready to crown Orgain king. Needless to say, I had to try the products myself and when I did I was not disappointed in the slightest. The tasty 25g Protein Shakes are now a part of my everyday nutrition plan and I will plan to drink 4 shakes a day on the Iditarod Trail in 2017. That’s right, I’ll be going back to Alaska next February to fulfill a dream I’ve had since I started reading stories of Balto in my childhood. The Iditarod Trail calls. My homework is done and I’ve chosen what I believe to be the best organic nutritional products on the market. Orgain will surely play a big part of my nutritional plan on The Iditarod Trail and I’m hoping it will be the fuel needed to get me to my much dreamed of destination; Nome, Alaska. Thanks Orgain. Yee Haw! Stay tuned for more updates from Peter as the race draws closer.
