Why did Orgain change from rice protein to pea protein in the vanilla bean shake? Not liking this at all.

Thank you for your sharing your feedback.

Due to a focus on continuous quality improvement, we adjusted the formula to use organic pea protein as the primary source of protein. We made the switch from organic brown rice to a Canadian sourced and US manufactured organic pea protein due to an unstable global supply of organic brown rice protein. Orgain prides itself on creating the highest quality organic products with premium ingredients. But there is nothing more important to us than ensuring your satisfaction with our products!

We truly value your feedback and have since made adjustments that we think you’ll be very pleased with! We were able to achieve a delicious flavor profile that will be in stock very soon (within 1-2 weeks).

Thank you so much for your patience and for choosing Orgain!

I just bought this today and was impressed.. Love that superfoods and probiotics are included, and it tastes pretty good, especially compared to other green/superfood protein shakes I’ve tried. You mention that it’s available only for a limited time. Is this product not a permanent part of Orgain’s product line?

This is a Costco exclusive and we’d love to have it in there permanently! You can help influence that by submitting a formal request with your own Costco location… they take member requests very seriously so if enough people want it, they may bring in Orgain Organic Protein + Superfoods Powder for good!

I absolutely love this product. My family and I routinely drink it everyday and we all feel fantastic. I’m devastated upon the news that it will be leaving my life; I’m not sure how I will be able to break the news to my family. Is there any plan to perpetuate the production of this product? Could I sign up for exclusive shipments? Or should I buy 5 years worth from Costco asap? Who knows, maybe it will be worth as much as gold someday.

Hi Aidan – We’d love for this to be a permanent addition to Costco! They take member requests very seriously and if enough of you ask for it, we would happily extend production! In other words, please submit a formal request with your Costco location 🙂

This is my favorite protein! I tried it as soon as Costco brought it in. It has unfortunately not been there the last two times I’ve been there. Are they still carrying it? Are you still making it?

That’s great to hear, Julie! Costco still carries this! If your location is out, members can also purchase online from Costco.com. Hope this helps!

I bought this for my son but he is allergic to peanuts. I have searched online and obviously on the container but can not find any reference to peanuts (strange since it seems to list everything else it doesn’t contain). I do not want to give this to him until I confirm no peanuts and wasn’t made in a facility with peanuts. I see you do have a peanut butter flavored one so I’m not sure. Thanks

Thanks so much for reaching out. This is a common concern with many of our customers as many suffer from a variety of allergies and food sensitivities. Our products are not produced in dedicated nut-free (peanut and tree nut) facilities. However, safety is of utmost importance at Orgain, which is why all of our facilities follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) to minimize the risk of cross contamination. These procedures include: segregation of all allergen ingredients from non-allergen ingredients, strict sanitation procedures, and an allergen testing program that is conducted prior to each production run to ensure that no allergen traces remain after cleaning. Most individuals have no problems at all, however if the allergy is severe in nature we recommend speaking with your healthcare practitioner to decide whether or not Orgain is right for you.

Why use stevia in a health drink its a sweetener how ever you cut it, why not leave it for the individual to decide if they want to add a sweetener or what they would like to use. Also why use wheat when so many people have wheat allergies?

    Good afternoon!
I would like to know who is in charge of your commercial relations in Mexico with Costco. I’m a supplier of them and we sell fresh Pineapples and I want to know if we can set a phone call for an idea that I have and how we can work together for them.

I have. I purchased this to make shakes for my kids and they did not like the flavor. I have had it for the past week and started having terrible stomach ache, bloating and gas. This is the only throngs that has changed in my diet that could be causing this. Not sure what to do. 😕 the chocolate flavor does not make me feel that way. I had been using chocolate for the past few months this with no problems.

I love this new vanilla organic protein and super foods mix from Costco and hope they will continue to carry it. However, I was trying to sort out the calories and nutrition. According to your nutritional label, given that fat is 9 calories per gram (5g), and 4 calories for each gram of carbs (21g) & protein (21g), and fiber (8g) can be deducted to give net carbs. I still don’t understand how 2 scoops of this comes out to the 170 total calories that is on the label. Something’s not right as I am coming up with over 200 calories for two scoops? Am I missing something here?? Thanks much, would appreciate feedback regarding this.

      April 3, 2018 11:43 pm

Hi Lauren. The software we use to calculate the calorie content does not use a traditional 9-4-4 for each of the macronutrients. Because this product contains erythritol and fiber which vary in their caloric contribution they are not calculated as a full 4 kcal per gram resulting in a calorie count lower than what would be calculated using 9-4-4 model. I hope this information is helpful. Thanks again for reaching out to us.

I am actually chatting with a Costco representative about restocking the product and they told me they couldn’t at the moment. I copied/paste the response from Costco:
“Mary S.: The vendor did not extend the contact with that item for the time. Regrettably, I have no forecasted information on the inventory.”

The rep did confirm there are 367 of the chocolate flavor left in Miami, FL (Flagler Street)

Can you tell me anything about the probiotics in this Orgain Super Foods powder? I purchased it at Costco. It tastes delicious, but my tummy has not been happy. It might not be related to your product at all, but what is in the probiotics? I am blaming them–but it could be anything.

Picked this up last week at my local Costco in California and I love it! it has everything you need plus the probiotics and it taste much better than other protein powders. I hope Orgain doesn’t discontinue this product and they keep selling it at Costco! It’s really hard to find a good organic plant based protein powder that has all this great stuff in it.

      April 12, 2018 6:56 pm

We have thousands of moms that have emailed us fantastic feedback on Orgain during their pregnancies and after while breastfeeding. Orgain is certified organic so free of hormones, antibiotics, pesticides, artificial sweeteners, colors, and GMOs. As always, we’d recommend you check with your healthcare team to ensure that Orgain is right for you.

I’m concerned about the turmeric. I know turmeric is safe if consumed in small amounts that you would use in regular cooking but shouldn’t be consumed in larger amounts that could be found in supplements, golden milk, etc. if you’re pregnant or breastfeeding. (It increases the chance of miscarriage in pregnancy and could potentially lower milk supply if you’re breastfeeding.) So the question is how much tumeric is in a serving?

I like it very much. I put all kind of fruit in it and make it a meal.

Something about the shakes taste different… it’s almost like when you changed the look of the bottle, that the ingredients changed. Now the taste is strange. How come it seems like there aren’t the same ingredients listed on the new bottles as the old ones?
I used to buy the vegan protein shakes in chocolate and vanilla every day… I even managed to bring in a dozen other friends of mine that all ended up loving orgain products too… until the taste changed.
Did you take out the hemp products in your revised version of the vegan shake? Or what is different.

    • alexm
      May 2, 2018 7:29 pm

Hi Tiana and thanks for your comment. Due to a focus on continuous quality improvement, we adjusted the formula to use organic pea protein as the primary source of protein. We are using a primarily organic pea protein formula now which is a different flavor profile. We did make further improvements after listening to initial feedback and reviews. Please look for a best by date of March 2019 and beyond for our newer and improved formula. If you have other questions, feel free to email us at info@drinkorgain.com. Hope that helps!

Arsenic is a big concern in brown rice. Studies have consistently shown brown rice grown in Texas, Louisiana and Arkansas to be higher ( double) in arsenic than California grown brown rice. Where is the brown rice used in Orgain grown?

Thank you for your inquiry about the origin. We don’t source from those areas in the US and source from an area in Northern Asia with very low heavy metals and its tested to meet our strict standards.

I really wanted to like this, but the flavor is just too unbearably sweet for me. I’ve tried changing it up with fruits, chocolate, peanut butter, but it’s too overwhelming. Will you be making it in different flavors? Or, a plain one with no stevia?

Is this use as a meal replacement? I’m in a weight loss journey and everything out there, Herbalife, isagenix, beachbody… is so expensive. I will like to use the Costco exclusive superfoods/vanilla shake for the purpose of replacing 2 meals a day. What are your thoughts?

Hi. I see that the container says vegan. I am dairy free and see that ingredients on your site says dairy free but on the packaging it says orgain organic creamer base. Is that dairy? Thank you, Chrissy

    • alexm
      October 23, 2018 7:42 am

Our “creamer base” is a blend of plant based ingredients that help to mimic the creaminess of dairy based proteins without adding dairy. This is part of what makes this product so delicious, but also dairy free. As a matter of fact this product is vegan and therefore does not contain any animal products or derivatives of animal products.
